We encourage you to be open about meeting and considering other parrots that we may find compatible with your life. Sometimes people make a great match when meeting a parrot in person at the sanctuary. We are so happy to see individuals visiting the sanctuary and making a connection with another parrot they weren't necessarily considering. Please consider submitting a general adoption application and your adoption coordinator can suggest which birds they feel might be an ideal fit for you. We will always endeavor to match adopters with the best species and individual birds for their families.

When adopting a bird from The Parrot Sanctuary, please understand you are accepting the honor of continuing to provide for a bird truly in need of a nurturing, caring and committed environment. You become an integral part of The Parrot Sanctuary and its goal to provide and promote an educated awareness of living successfully with a companion parrot. Our adoption procedure is designed to be in the bird’s best interest, to foster a harmonious relationship, and we appreciate your patience with this process. Our relationship with you is important to us, and we depend upon your support now, as well as in the future to improve the lives of all parrots.

Your participation in ongoing data collection regarding your companion parrot(s) is invaluable to our efforts and helps us to supply much-needed reference material to animal welfare at large.

When completing this application please be aware that you may need to make adjustments within your home and lifestyle. Please consider carefully whether your life offers the flexibility to include a parrot. Answer all the questions to the best of your knowledge even if the answer is “I don't know” We are all in this learning process together and we want to work closely with you to find the right solutions to any questions you may have, and for your specific situation.

Please be advised that The Parrot Sanctuary CAN NOT guarantee the health of any bird even with the best veterinary care and testing. Upon request, the Parrot Sanctuary will provide the adoptable bird's medical records to your veterinarian for review prior to the adoption finalization.
