  • Bio: Hey Peeps! Right off the bat, I’m going to say that all the volunteers at the sanctuary think I’m pretty cool. They say I’m handsome as can be and quite stylish with my orange leg warmers, which make me stand out. Personally, I’ve had these leg warmers my whole life so I don’t get the big deal but apparently, they are “so 80s”. Speaking of that decade, I’m not a spring chicken, but honestly, you wouldn’t know it! I’ve got loads of love to give.

I am a great flyer, and I love to fly. I want to continue to fly in my new home; my people at the sanctuary will only consider adoptees that will keep me flighted. I have never had my flight feathers trimmed and I think it truly would be traumatic for me. I really can’t even think about it. So this means you really have to provide a safe and secure environment so there is no risk that I could fly outside.
Now you may be wondering why I need a new home? Well, this part is a bit sad but hang in there. You see I had the best guy look after me my WHOLE life. We were inseparable! Then my absolute best hooman friend became ill. I stayed by his side until the end of his life. When he passed away I started pulling out my feathers, I was devastated. I pulled them out until my back was naked. I also developed a behaviour that may seem rather strange but grief makes you do crazy stuff sometimes. I won’t go into it here because I don’t do it anymore. The volunteers at the sanctuary showed me how to engage with toys and new people. It took a long time to find other things to do because I had been pulling out my back feathers for a long time. They won’t grow back, but unless I’m flying or stretching you would never know. My buddies at the sanctuary invested so much time to replace my desire to hurt myself.

I could tell you so much more about me but I think I will take a break here… OK just one more thing, maybe two. When people are around me I sometimes say “Watch’ya doing?”. I really like to be part of the action, I’m a curious guy! Sometimes I say it out of the blue and the people around me get a good giggle out of it. I also sometimes say a garbled “Who’s your daddy?” My best friend used to say that to me! I’m pretty sure that if you let me come into your life, I might love you enough to say it to you one day. So think about it and maybe we will become the best of friends. If you are patient with me you will win me over and we may just become best buddies.

The sanctuary is a great place to get better but now they say I’m ready to go on my next adventure!
